Wet and dry risers systems

You would typically find these types of systems installed in high-rise properties. They are a tool that are used by the fire brigade when they attend to an emergency. A wet riser is constantly full of water and you will typically have a dry riser system where there is a risk of pipework freezing.

When the fire brigade attends to an emergency, they can connect their hoses to a dry riser which then allows them to pump water to the floor in which the fire has broken out. This means they can extinguish the fire without having to go into the building.
