Fire & Security Solutions for the Education Sector

Education establishments have a responsibility to safeguard their students and staff. This includes maximising the fire safety and security of a building. Fire Action is proud to provide fire safety and security solutions for educational premises across Sidcup, Bromley and Kent.

We provide fire safety and security solutions to:

  • Nurseries
  • Universities
  • Schools
  • Colleges

Here at Fire Action, we’re NSI-accredited to Silver level, which means we’re certified as supplying quality products and offering leading installations that will protect your premises with the very best and most reliable fire and security systems.

We’re regularly audited by the NSI to ensure we’re maintaining the high technical standards required, as well as being comprehensively insured to protect our staff and customers.

Fire Hazards in the Education Sector

Due to the diverse nature of an educational establishment, there are a number of fire hazards present. Some common causes of fire in the educational sector can include:

  • Open flames or cooking oils
  • Volatile lab substances
  • Bunsen burner flames
  • Accumulation of waste or paper
  • Electrical fires
  • Heaters

Luckily, whether the fire is electrical, paper-based or cooking oils have ignited, having the right fire safety equipment and protocols in the building can save lives.

Your legal requirements

It was reported in 2019 by The Guardian that around two thirds of UK schools and nurseries have inadequate procedures in place for fire safety.

As an educational facility, you have certain obligations to keep staff and students safe – and here at Fire Action, we can help you meet those legal obligations by providing industry-leading equipment and training.

Depending on the type of establishment you run, your responsibilities may differ – so make sure to carefully research what is expected of you, legally, to safeguard the children and/or adults in your care. The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 is an essential piece of legislation that you should familiarise yourself with – failure to comply can result in fines and other legal troubles, as well as putting building users at risk.

We’re here to help

The team at Fire Action have decades of experience, providing high-quality fire safety equipment to educational facilities across Kent. This includes fire detection systems, fire extinguishers, fire signage and also essential training for fire wardens. We’re always glad to talk through the specific needs of your facility.

Security solutions

School buildings need to be as secure as possible to protect the welfare of students and staff, as well as any valuable equipment on the premises. CCTV systems and intruder alarms are very effective at detecting, deterring and identifying potential intruders, and Fire Action can design and install CCTV and intruder alarm systems that perfectly meet the needs of any educational establishment. We can also provide door entry systems for enhanced security.
